Why This Property?
The Outer Banks carries a long and storied anthropological and ecological legacy that perhaps few places in America can claim. The oldest European artifacts in North America were found in the Outer Banks, and a thriving civilization of indigenous people lived very successfully for hundreds of years prior to Europeans’ arrival. The Outer Banks remains a vital link in the “Atlantic Flyway” for migratory birds, which speaks to its historical importance of biodiversity. For centuries these barrier islands have served as a critical haven for humans and wildlife.
Like native ancestors who arrived here from mainland tribes, we see this as an important place to vacation. In the modern interpretation, visitors have travelled here for years to windsurf and kiteboard, but really many threads remain of what transpired centuries ago. Ultimately, it is the nature and the people that make time here so compelling.
Rubicon Seven’s interest is how we generate needed health derived from vacationing with an ecological footprint perhaps no larger than what our ancestors manifested. We are two generations into developing a path towards far healthier and regenerative lifestyles, and our mission in the Outer Banks is to demonstrate the benefits of this transformation. Our work globally has determined that this mission is extremely feasible, yet we know the momentum to build such change can only happen experientially. This project seeks to offer people the optimism and potential of what is to come.
The core purpose of our company is to help regions around the world create a path towards a sustainable future, where all human activity generates comprehensive health for all life on this planet. Our habitats, our homes, are an extremely important piece of this future, and we take the development of our home life very seriously. We can live in such a way that generates a healthier planet.
