In 2009, Rubicon Seven Foundation, Inc. formed out of the stark realization that our global effort to reach sustainable life solutions is largely impossible if we do not completely and holistically engage all people in this transformation. Our motivation extends beyond the core principle of creating social justice and fairness. Rather, it is born from seeing that those closest to the earth – often our poorest community members – are the keys to unlocking regenerative solutions to heal our planet. Through actions of care and exploration into who we are, we can build processes of meaningful collaboration to create healthy life. From Rubicon Seven Foundation's viewpoint, regenerating the health of our ecological and human diversity is an essential path to not only our salvation, but our ability to thrive.
Rubicon Seven Foundation seeks to move beyond notions of "empowerment" to processes of "co-powerment," where we communally spark regenerative practices to create socio-ecological vibrancy. We create processes of co-learning where we purposely construct diverse collaborations, realizing a range of perspectives typically generates much more effective and holistic solutions. Rubicon Seven Foundation is deeply committed to taking a whole-systems approach, where we fuse the tools of sociology, ecology, permaculture, and sustainable environment-making to support an ethic of care. By working across a diverse range of areas, we create synergistic effectiveness.
At 14, best friends Robb Reiner and Lips made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams.
